Catlin US Appoints Joseph Horan as Chief Underwriting Officer-Reinsurance

ATLANTA – Catlin Group Limited (‘CGL’; London Stock Exchange), the international specialty property/casualty insurer and reinsurer, announces that Joseph Horan has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer-Reinsurance for Catlin US.
He will succeed Andrew Englesbe, who has been appointed Director-Reinsurance, responsible for strengthening Catlin US’s customer relationships.
Catlin US, headquartered in Atlanta, encompasses all of the Catlin Group’s operations based in the United States. Catlin US underwrites a wide variety of specialty property/casualty insurance and reinsurance products from a network of offices throughout the country.
In his new position, Joe Horan will be responsible for the reinsurance operations of Catlin US, which include property facultative, property treaty, marine treaty, brokerage facultative, accident and health/workers compensation, and Latin American/Caribbean underwriting units. He will also become a member of the Catlin US executive committee. He will be based in Summit, N.J.
Richard S. Banas, president and chief executive officer of Catlin US, said:

Joe Horan has most recently been a executive with Catlin US’s accident and health underwriting team. He began his career with Reliance National Insurance Company, and has held various underwriting and executive positions of increasing responsibility. He was one of the founders in 1999 of Reinsurance Management Group in Summit, N.J..
Andy Englesbe began his career with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. and later worked for 22 years at General Re and also at J. Linneman & Co. in both facultative and treaty reinsurance roles. He later joined the US operation of Wellington Underwriting plc, which was acquired by Catlin in 2006. He was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer-Reinsurance for Catlin US in June 2007.
